Aloha A. G.,

Sorry to hear about your being ill. Illness should be something reserved for non-authors. There's simply too much creativity churning about in most author's lives to allow an illness to take hold or intervene.

I'm personally looking forward to seeing THE SOLAR TRIANGLE (Savant, in production) released next. - "We chose the place for its neutrality. The Brits opted for its inaccessibility and the Israelis agreed because of its impregnability," Agent Joseph Falk's voice crackled in the earphones of fellow Agent Susan Koski as she swept her binoculars across the vastness of the dark green sea below to focus on the jagged black rock that comprised the home of Flangenan Light. A lighthouse clinging tenaciously to the rocky outcroppings three miles west of Tiree Island for over one hundred years, once crisp and white, its conical structure embedded into the northernmost tip of land was now weather-worn to a splotchy grey.

"Then she spied a concrete bunker added to the west curve of the lighthouse, and yet another built into the east face of the rock cliff…

In their sixth adventure, Koski and Falk face what may be one of their most deadly assignments yet: Operation Solar Triangle.

If you feel well enough tell us a sentence or two about VATICAN, INC. (aka "68 Via Condotti)!

By the way, I've been talking with Karen Grimshaw, your editor for CHANG THE MAGIC CAT (Aignos, in polishing) and I would love to see a series of memoirs based on your WWII diaries.

THE TURTLE DANCES by Daniel S. Janik- Excerpt #2 (Family Rated)

"Chapter 3 - Home

Isla was a natural surfer, having not just one, but two permanent surfboards—one above and another below her body. The top board was a shiny green and brown that, from above, made her look like an ocean rock, hiding her from the preying eyes of ravenous seabirds and killer whales. Her lower board, viewed from below, was a creamy sunshine white. Against a bright ocean sky, it made her near-invisible to any sharks or killer whales swimming below... Suddenly she felt the water surge beneath her, and settled inside the crest of the wave, steadying herself using her four flippers and tail for balance and position. Riding the wave, she lifted her head out of the water and smiled with pride. "

Mulit-award-winning author and USA Dancesport Competitor Daniel S. Janik is a former resident of Alaska currently residing in Honolulu, Hawaii, with his wife and competition dance partner, Setsuko Tsuchiya. Together they welcome the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles to Hawaii throughout the year.

"I've long been fascinated by children's reactions to sea turtles—they seem to instinctively identify with them, viewing them without fear, even wading in and swimming bravely alongside them...This book came to me imagining what a sea turtle might think of the fearless, curious, shell-less, upright land-dwellers wading among them. Mightn't a particularly observant and fanciful turtle take things a step further if she clambered onto a beach and happened to see two humans dancing?" says Dan. "Naturalists at heart, the illustrator and I endeavored to keep the appearance and life history of our heroine, Isla, and her turtle-friend, Surf, reasonably true to life."

Hi Dan this is Helen. Yes I traveled to Israel last year and adored it.I would go back in a heartbeat.in fact, I was in Israel a year ago today. I was in Nazareth, which has living history replicas of a first century village Christ would have lived and worked in before beginning his ministry.

Good Gosh, Mike,

What a great opportunity to join the eclipse revelers there and offer them something truly worthy of their interest: Helen R. Davis' CLEOPATRA UNCONQUERED (Savant 2015)! Eclipses were regarded in Cleopatra's day as portends of great change.

By the way, are you, like me, an amateur astronomer?

Dear Dan,

Well, I grew up on both the 1960's space program and classic science fiction by Ray Bradbury, Robert Heinlein, Phillip K. Dick, etc. I have owned a telescope but currently I just use binoculars. Casper mountain is a good place to stargaze as it is only 15 minutes away with slight light pollution.

I wake for things like the lunar eclipses, etc. So I guess I am. Also, I will call on the phone next week to continue our discussion.

Aloha Dan, Helen, Mike and Others,

Sorry to join this so late in today's chat, but I feel privileged to participate, nonetheless.

QUANTUM DEATH by A. G. Hayes with Raymond Gaynor - Excerpt #1 (This Excerpt is Family Rated):

Susan Koski eased out of bed without making a sound. Joseph Falk never moved, the top of his head showing from beneath the covers assured her he was fast asleep. Slowly she crept to the bedroom door, turned the knob...and the bedside phone rang.

Koski immediately recognized the voice of their boss, Tom Stewart, head of Cerberus, America's ultra-secret "off the board" information and action agency.

"[Both of ] you on the line,?" Stewart asked, continuing a moment later, "Good. Now...listen up."

There was a soft click and the tone on the line changed. Both Koski and Falk knew what was coming was top secret. "We have a problem."

Koski looked across the bed, raised her eyebrows and mouthed the words...Happy Birthday.

Koski and Falk come up against what very well may prove to be their most complex and dangerous case yet: The Quantum Death Machine. For the first time, Koski and Falk must separate during a mission. Each faces mortal peril, while, at the same time, their smoldering relationship begins to heat up. The fifth in the riveting Koski and Falk Series by multi-award-winning author A. G. Hayes with Raymond Gaynor, author of TOTAL MELTDOWN (Borgo/Wildside)

Always good to hear from you! Do you and A. G. Hayes have another Koski and Falk adventure in the making?

Helen, I like Athena as it is sort of an adventure sci-fi tale set on a distant planet in the future but alas people are still people and some problem s seem to follow humankind wherever they go. It is well paced and I like the protagonists very much. I confess though I am prejudiced in your favor.

A. G. and I are in frequent communication, trying out new plots and twists for possible upcoming adventures. Right now, I'm waxing prophetic having North Korea as the antagonist and waning so having Russia as an ally in QUANTUM DEATH (Savant 2016). I'm particularly intrigued by the whole concept of "alternative facts" and "fake news." Of all the different kinds of weapons of mass destruction, words might be the most powerful and dangerous, especially when "news" is purposefully propagandized. I'd like to write a story surrounding this theme. I don't know yet if A. G.'s Koski and Falk would be interested, however, as we haven't really discussed this particular idea.

Ah, fake news is a hot topic since we have learned that the intelligence agencies are actually listening into all of us, not just the "bad guys" and they can make their surveillance appear to come from any country they want, Russia seems to be popular, and who knows what is being faked via photo shop technology. I note that google and Facebook are now trying to tell their subscribers what is "fake" and what is real. It all reminds me of a scence in Citizen Kane where in a fight with his wife, when she asks him " What will people think?"
He replies "What I tell them to!" This seems to be the mindset of what I call the going extinct news media. Whether liberal or conservative they expect their audiences to accept whatever they feed them.

THE TURTLE DANCES by Daniel S. Janik - Excerpt #3 (Family Rated)

"Chapter 13 - The Turtle Dances

"You know what?" The young man offered, thinking of the two turtles they'd been watching. “We danced so well together, I think we might just win!"

"You know, I think so, too,“ replied his partner. “Thanks to our turtle-friends out there," the two finished together.

The couple returned, hand-in-hand, to the dance floor to join the line of competitors. Waiting for the judges to announce the awards, the young man turned to his now self-assured partner, touched the tip of her hand softly much the way the turtles had, and smiled. "The turtle dances," he said softly.

"Yes," she replied, while unseen in the distance, Isla and Surf happily executed a perfect bounce, twirl and slide. "The turtle dances!"

---------------

Continuing the unique tradition of "talking up" rather than down to readers, THE TURTLE DANCES demonstrates the power and beauty of narrative storytelling at its finest. Designed to re-awaken curiosity, discovery in both children and adults, the book is an excellent way to introduce literacy and associated lifelong learning pleasures.

Mulit-award-winning author, naturalist, artist, photographer and movie producer Daniel S. Janik resides in Honolulu, Hawaii with his wife and dance partner, Setsuko Tsuchiya. Together they welcome Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles to Hawaii throughout the year. An Oklahoma painter known for her vivid, almost photographic renditions of nature, illustrator Ruth R. Janik created the 28 naturalistic line drawings in the book specifically for children to color.

THE TURTLE DANCES is the third in the Savant "Color-Me-Please" series and the third in the author's "Pacific Rim Naturalist" group of children's books.

QUANTUM DEATH by A. G. Hayes with Raymond Gaynor- Excerpt #2 (This Excerpt is Restricted due to graphic content):

"Mr. Hempsted. It's Agent Falk," he said working his way through the door and cautiously around to the front of the chair. "I visited you earlier, and was wondering if we might…"

Aaron Hempsted was sitting, head erect, rheumy bloodshot eyes fixed open, staring at Falk, his mouth limply agape, his unshaven face even whiter than before. A bloodless hand gripped each of the threadbare chair arms, making it appear as if he were pushing himself back into the seat. A small rivulet of dark, coagulated blood had worked its way alongside his nose and down one cheek from a small, round entry hole in the middle of his forehead. The man's shocked expression was accentuated by a halo of dark red blood splattered behind the man's resting head onto a white embroidered doily draped over the back of the easy chair.

Falk squatted, raising his weapon and holding it with both hands as he swept the room…

Multi-award winning author A. G. Hayes studied television writing at UCLA and has published short fiction, "Cover up" - "Not a Penny Pincher” - "Home" - "Payment in Full" - "Small Wonder" - Fate Magazine-"Guided Through a Mine Field" and other scripts to CBS TV and other television productions. He lives in Northern California, and spends his time writing and traveling to nearly every part of the world. He has used personal experiences gained during service with the British intelligence in Eastern Europe and the Middle East to enrich the characters of his protagonist teams. "Quantum Death is a deeply human story beyond up-to-date that pushes the edge of the envelope," says Hayes. "Despite being parted, their relationship never stops developing and the story never loses the quintessential Koski and Falk."

Raymond Gaynor is the pen-name of a multi-award-winning, reclusive writer-artist-photographer-videographer, who, in his own words, "lives and breathes" San Francisco. He is co-author with William Maltese on the Tripler and Clarke gay political thriller, TOTAL MELTDOWN (Borgo/Wildside 2011) and is the author of numerous fiction and non-fiction works published under a number of pseudonyms. "When co-authoring a work, it's always first in my mind to preserve the first author's style and voice, which I believe readers will find well accomplished," says Gaynor. "A close second is to add significantly to the work, which was incredibly easy and fun when working with A. G. Hayes. I think this is reflected in the adventure's compelling yet clean, easy read. Love Koski and Falk. Who couldn't?"
