Wearing my publisher hat, it's my pleasure to report that the acquisition of Aignos Publishing Inc (now Aignos Publishing LLC) as an imprint of Savant Books and Publications is almost complete. I say "almost" because we're still running down information on several former Aignos authors. It is now official that each publishing house has its own webpage with some shared elements like this chat, and its own mission:

SBAP -- to publish enduring literary works with a twist that broaden the reader's world outlook. The emphasis is on newer and never-before-published writers and authors, though once published with SBAP, our aim is to have at least five publications per author. SBAP also publishes a yearly poetry anthology.

AP -- to publish avant garde, experimental and inventive works that push the leading edge. The emphasis is on established authors. To this end, we already have three AP manuscripts in editing! We're now considering publishing a yearly short story anthology under AP.

I'm sad to announce that our Director of Marketing and Publicity, Ms. Eleonor Gardner, will be leaving us at the end of next month. As a result, we'll be searching once again for a dynamic entrepreneur to fill this position. Know someone who's like to participate in this exciting area? Email a letter of introduction and resume to "savantbooks@gmail.com"

Savant has recently released, The Gum Shoe. If you love a great detective story, you'll enjoy this one! You can purchase a copy directly at http://www.savantbooksandpublications.com/.
  [TG-FCover5MedFrame]
Chicago, 1947. Private investigator "Matt" McBride runs afoul of corrupt politicians, vicious mobsters and a trigger-happy Texan femme fatale to prove that the "suicide" of his best friend was murder. Matt's perilous journey to track down the killer nearly dead-ends in a motor home on collision course with a cargo plane.

Yes, I'ill still to be an active voice in Savant as an editor and proofreader, though. If anyone is interested in this position, please email me directly. I'd love to talk to you more about the projects we have going on, what to expect, vision and direction, etc.  Savant needs a strong, marketing-savy individual, who's not afraid to be innovative. A passion for literature is a plus.

Switching to my editor's hat, I'm pleased to announce that Richard Rose's THE GUMSHOE (Savant 2017) was released last week and is already garnering reader interest at our Savant Bookstore Honolulu.

I'm looking forward to editing Richard Rose's sequel to the successful THE LAZARUS CONSPIRACIES (Savant 2015), and I'm currently waiting eagerly for Helen R. Davis' CLEOPATRA UNCONQUERED (Savant 2016) to hit the "critical reader mass" threshold so we can being editing the second in this series, CLEOPATRA VICTORIOUS.

With two publishing houses -- Savant Books and Publications and its new imprint, Aignos Publishing -- we're looking for both outstanding manuscripts and editors. If you've ever wanted to become a published author, now is the time to submit a finished manuscript as a Manuscript Submission Package to either, or if you have more than one completed manuscript that fits our publication objectives, both. If you've ever thought of yourself as an editor, now is also the time to apply. SBAP and AP both include editor training and certification.

I've received some inquiries regarding a 2017 "Gathering." Any plans, ideas or suggestions, Eleonor?

AlohaDan. It seems a lot of exciting things are going on. I am curious with taking on Aignos, how that will affect your ability to market and distribute other author works.

David sent an email about an upcoming work that I would love to participate in. I hope to connect with the author.

On my note, I have two forthcoming releases with other publishers: EVITA: MY ARGENTINA is going to be published with Custom Book Productions and ATHENA: TEH WARRIOR QUEEN OF YAVDOLO will be released by Christian Faith Publishing.

Eleanor, why are you leaving?

As an editor, I'm excited about a few titles that I'm working on bringing to publications:
  • Beneath Them by Natalie Roers. This is a chilling thriller story about a young man who sneaks into a suburban home and stays in a crawlspace under the house. The story takes the reader on a whirlwind drama about his life and where it's going.
  • Bo Henry at Three Forks by Dan Bradford. This is a sweet story about U.S Marshall Bo Henry and his adventures cornering bad guys, falling in love, and helping his deputy, Daniel. It's for anyone who really enjoys a good guy-bad guy story.
  • A Real Daughter by Lynne McKelvey. This is another thriller about a woman who continues to see her dead daughter and what happens when she inherits a real one through a new relationship.
I'm a sucker for thrillers and underdog stories! If this sounds like your manuscript, I'm your editor. You can contact me directly or get in touch with our acquisitions editor who is currently, David Shinsato. http://www.savantbooksandpublications.com/about.php

As for a gathering, Dan, we've played with a few ideas from doing a tour throughout Oahu and reserving a location in Honolulu where everyone can get a bite to eat, network, chat, and get to know what Savant/Aignos is all about. Though we haven't quite perfected or decided 100% what we'll be doing, we're looking into ways that would best serve our guests as well as the house.

Taking off my editor hat and putting on my author hat, I'm excited about returning to Japan this year to complete my research for "The Sword of Kamehameha," my epic novel surrounding the life of a 13th century samurai sword, and it's effect on the history of feudal Japan and Hawaii. Yes, Hawaii! In the work, the sword appears on the Hawaiian Island of Maui during a tumultuous time in Hawaiian history and is instrumental in resculpting Hawaii into what we know of it today. Right now, I'm penning the sword's creation.

My newest "Color-Me-Please" children's book about a gecko that sings is currently under reconstruction. In the meantime, I'm carefully observing our current house gecko for his/her possible contributions. Call it research of a gecko kind. :-)

My several other manuscripts are momentarily on hold while I focus on the above. These include:
"The Edge of Madness"
"The Thirteenth Apostate"
"The Bridge at Vittorio Veneta" and
"Shadow"

Busy, busy, busy. The life of an author, and one I particularly enjoy.

Unlike many traditional publishers, Savant Books and Publications accepts unsolicited manuscripts! Savant is currently growing and looking to expand its imprint, Aignos. I can guarantee that each manuscript that's submitted is reviewed fairly and strong manuscripts are discussed, thoroughly and thoughtfully.

Also, if you're thinking about submitting a manuscript but feel unsure, you can still pitch an idea. Our Editor-in-Chief is a really nice guy who's open to ideas. [smile]

Aloha Helen!

Don't worry about dilution of services with the acquisition of our new imprint, Aignos Publishing. Some publisher functions will be separate (like website presence), but many will be joint (like Marketing and Publicity).

Hey, how's the 2017 Savant Poetry Anthology coming? How many poets and poems do you have so far? I'm looking forward to the final announcement of poets and poems on or about 1 April 2017.

Editing's really an educational blast, isn't it? There's no better way to become a better writer or author than to get trained, certified and begin editing for others! It's been a mainstay in my own author development, and one I continue to enjoy. And it sounds like the same for you, too.
