Nicholas - are you into M-Superstring/Multiverse Theory? I gave a lecture on that two days ago in my "Contemporary Science" class at the university. It's one of the most interesting attempts yet at a Unified Field Fheory of Everything. I'm also a fan of Douglas Adams (HITCHHIKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY, SO LONG AND THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH, RESTAURANT AT THE END OF THE UNIVERSE).

Yes, well, while most authors are loners, I tend to prefer co-authoring. For me, it's more exciting, especially those richly rewarding author-to-author discussions that precede writing. It's like Nicholas was just saying about strolling through the scenes in real life, whatever "real" means.

I'm away from my computer, or I'd post an excerpt from QUANTUM DEATH. It's a mark of quality when the (co-)author ends up re-reading the book several times and doesn't lose interest. I think during production, A. G. and I probably read the manuscript through editing and polishing ten or so times. At my fifteenth re-read, it's as fresh and engaging as ever. Gotta hand it to Koski and Falk, and their champion, A. G. Hayes.

I just happen to have a copy of the first excerpt from a previous post:

QUANTUM DEATH by A. G. Hayes with Raymond Gaynor - Excerpt #1 (This Excerpt is Family Rated):

Susan Koski eased out of bed without making a sound. Joseph Falk never moved, the top of his head showing from beneath the covers assured her he was fast asleep. Slowly she crept to the bedroom door, turned the knob...and the bedside phone rang.

Koski immediately recognized the voice of their boss, Tom Stewart, head of Cerberus, America's ultra-secret "off the board" information and action agency.

"[Both of ] you on the line,?" Stewart asked, continuing a moment later, "Good. Now...listen up."

There was a soft click and the tone on the line changed. Both Koski and Falk knew what was coming was top secret. "We have a problem."

Koski looked across the bed, raised her eyebrows and mouthed the words...Happy Birthday.

  [12541533-quantum-death-by-hayes-with-raymond-gaynor]

Koski and Falk come up against what very well may prove to be their most complex and dangerous case yet: The Quantum Death Machine. For the first time, Koski and Falk must separate during a mission. Each faces mortal peril, while, at the same time, their smoldering relationship begins to heat up. The fifth in the riveting Koski and Falk Series by multi-award-winning author A. G. Hayes with Raymond Gaynor, author of TOTAL MELTDOWN (Borgo/Wildside)

THE TURTLE DANCES by Daniel S. Janik - Excerpt #3 (Family Rated)

"Chapter 13 - The Turtle Dances

"You know what?" The young man offered, thinking of the two turtles they'd been watching. “We danced so well together, I think we might just win!"

"You know, I think so, too,“ replied his partner. “Thanks to our turtle-friends out there," the two finished together.

The couple returned, hand-in-hand, to the dance floor to join the line of competitors. Waiting for the judges to announce the awards, the young man turned to his now self-assured partner, touched the tip of her hand softly much the way the turtles had, and smiled. "The turtle dances," he said softly.

"Yes," she replied, while unseen in the distance, Isla and Surf happily executed a perfect bounce, twirl and slide. "The turtle dances!"

------------

Continuing the unique tradition of "talking up" rather than down to readers, THE TURTLE DANCES demonstrates the power and beauty of narrative storytelling at its finest. Designed to re-awaken curiosity, discovery in both children and adults, the book is an excellent way to introduce literacy and associated lifelong learning pleasures.

Mulit-award-winning author, naturalist, artist, photographer and movie producer Daniel S. Janik resides in Honolulu, Hawaii with his wife and dance partner, Setsuko Tsuchiya. Together they welcome Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles to Hawaii throughout the year. An Oklahoma painter known for her vivid, almost photographic renditions of nature, illustrator Ruth R. Janik created the 28 naturalistic line drawings in the book specifically for children to color.

THE TURTLE DANCES is the third in the Savant "Color-Me-Please" series and the third in the author's "Pacific Rim Naturalist" group of children's books.

I'm often asked what the difference is between an author and a writer -- that goes for prose as well as poetry -- and so I thought I'd take a moment here and toss out my opinion.

A writer is someone who records observations and thoughts for him or herself, typically in a diary or journal.

An author is someone who writes for a particular audience, with the intent on having that audience read, experience and enjoy the publication.

I've often said that the difference is years wide. I've been in authoring mode for over 40 years now, and I still feel like I'm learning what it means to be an author. The important thing is that I like it. Authoring, and, in fact, editing, doing cover art and publishing all bring me personal joy. Books, irrespective of their format, can bring generations of people great joy, intriguingly many generations after I'm gone. Not many professions can boast that.

Savant Books and Publications, and it's imprint, Aignos Publishing, are always seeking the best of the best new and experienced author's never-published manuscripts for publication. We are a team of authors and take publication seriously, so much so that we don't charge for publishing. Instead, we invest in our authors and pay them contracted royalties, looking towards making the work available to readers for twenty-one years. We have launched several prose author and poet's careers via our highly respected Savant Poetry Anthology series now in it's eighth year.

If you're looking for a publication "home," I hope you'll consider us.

Feel free to share any last thoughts before the chat ends. For example, are you into M-Superstring/Multiverse Theory? It's a topic that, as an author, I've toyed with in several publications and plan to delve into more.
