Aloha and Good Morning America!  It's my pleasure to welcome you to the January 2017 combined Savant Books and Publications / Aignos Publishing online realtime text chat. Our chats are the third Saturday of every month and are open to the public. It's important to register if you want to not just lurk and read, but actively engage with our authors, poets, editors, cover artists, proofreaders and staff as well as participating writers, recording artists, audio-video media producers, avid readers, guests and public at larger.

The biggest news is...no, not the new president of the USA: the successful acquisition of Aignos Publishing Inc and it's almost complete re-emergence as Aignos Publishing LLC, an imprint of Savant Books and Publications, replete with its own mission and public presence. While Savant Books and Publications, the parent company will remain focused on publication of "enduring literary works with a twist that change readers' world point-of-view," Aignos Publishing will focus on publication of of "avant garde, experimental and inventive works that push the leading edge of all genres of fiction and non-fiction." Traditional and Experimental. One immediate benefit to authors is that there are now two publishing houses to which one can submit manuscripts. The two houses, while distinctly different in focus will share Savant Books and Publications resources including editors, cover artists, staff and resources in common, making each a more powerful and effective publishing house than either would be alone.

So, welcome once again to the first Savant Books and Publications / Aignos Publishing online realtime text chat!

Taking off my publisher hat and putting on my editor hat, I'm pleased to announce that Richard Rose's new 1940's detective novel, THE GUMSHOE, has gone into proofing and should be ready for release within the next couple months. This is a work I'm particularly proud of, as I have always had great respect and admiration for the generation of dime-novel writers of the 40's who created the noir detective story and preserved within them a glimpse of the world during those times. Richard Rose is the author of THE LAZARUS CONSPIRACY (Savant 2013), and I am looking forward to working with Richard on the sequel as soon as THE GUMSHOE is out.

I'm also pleased to see Helen R. Davis' CLEOPATRA UNCONQUERED (Savant 2015) approach the 500 sales mark, meaning we will soon be engaged in editing the sequel, if I'm correct, tentatively entitled CLEOPATRA VICTORIOUS. I'm a big ancient time period fan, and thoroughly enjoy becoming immersed in the alternate history world of Cleopatra's Egypt.

Well, that is exciting news about the new publishing house. So how are you holding up during the acquisition. Did you spend a lot of time with bankers and lawyers?

We're currently in the middle of working out details concerning our annual writers and poets gathering. So far, we're narrowing down a venue and hope to announce a date and location by the end of this month. [smile]

Yes, acquiring Aignos is Savant's latest milestone. Please learn more about it through visiting Aignos' website: http://www.savantbooksandpublications.com/aignos-publishing.php

Yes, the sequel to Cleopatra Unconquered is entitled Cleopatra Victorious and will explore how history would have been altered between about 37 BC up to her death around 5 AD.
I know the first draft of it is done and she is excited to continue the series. I also know is is enjoying proof reading the detective novel you mentioned. She likes the story line a lot and is very interested in that post WWII area of history.

Yes, Mike, I did, and I'm sooooooo glad to be reaching the end of the acquisition, 2016 Quarter 4 royalties, 2016 excise taxes, end-of-the-year 1099-Misc reports and federal and state business taxes. It's a time of year I don't look forward to, during which things slow to a crawl in Savant and I end up suspending all my own authoring for about 4 weeks. Gasp! It's so good to breathe fresh 2017 air!

Welcome Lynne McKelvey!  It's a pleasure to welcome you to our chat. What's up with you? How does it feel to be a contracted author with a major small publisher?
