I mentioned in an earlier post today that bitcoins are a key component in QUANTUM DEATH (Savant 2016), and I'm glad to read in the news that nations are beginning to take a hard look at this "new" currency that is virtually untraceable, i.e. the perfect money laundering device. There's no doubt in my mind that a new form of currency is needed to replace cash and, more recently, credit cards; however, I think that bitcoins are not the answer.

They aren't and will never be a real "investment" as they have no extrinsic value and furthermore not inherent stable value. They are instead just another form of addictive gambling based on the old pyramid scheme. My real objection to them remains that they are untraceable. Dealing in bitcoins, as the nefarious villains do in QUANTUM DEATH is like carrying your off-shore haven in your pocket and using it for every transaction. Paired with the TOR (the onion ring) "dark" web, it is the perfect answer to the more visible "derivatives" instrument that has brought down nations in its application.

That's my author's opinion, anyway, based on my research on bitcoins for QUANTUM DEATH.

QUANTUM DEATH by A. G. Hayes with Raymond Gaynor - Excerpt #3 (This Excerpt is Family Rated):

As the plane began to descend from cruising altitude on approach to Honolulu, its sole occupant listened, aghast at what was being reported by the Russian military scientists through the Russian interpreter. There would be a flurry of Russian, only a little of which she could understand, then a crusty pause followed by the slow, almost mechanical voice of the military linguistic interpreter.

"Maybe ten years ago…yes, ten years…the Russian military…tasked a secret…'think tank' I think you would call it…to theorize a weapon that could…destroy a nation's infrastructure…without harming it's basic resources, including its people. Over."

"A 'weapon'? Over." she asked of the disembodied voice on the other end of the crackling but secure line.

"I'm sorry. Exact translation is difficult. Perhaps 'a solution' or 'an approach'…the idea was to theorize a weapon or solution or approach…that could take the place of nuclear weapons. Mutually Assured Destruction—MAD—was never a solution acceptable to our military leaders. Over."

"And they came up with…?" she probed.

"They came up with…the kvantovaya mashina smerti…the 'Quantum Death Machine'…which our researchers here believe is…being deployed against the United States of America."

About this Book:

It was an honor and privilege to be asked to join with A. G. Hayes in the continued creation of protagonist Koski and Falk's world of international intrigue. In this fifth in the Koski and Falk series, the two face both a political and technological conundrum of global proportion, which threatens the very foundations of democracy, free trade and capitalism. In QUANTUM DEATH (Savant 2016), Koski and Falk must pursue separate assignments to find the kvantovaya mashina smerti, or Quantum Death Machine, the pursuit of which seems destined to end in certain death, all while holding desperately onto to their budding feelings for each other.

In the process, meet Thomas Steward, their handler and ostensible leader of the ultra- secret Cerebrus organization, as he returns to the field in a last swan song. And Kate Keenan, an old flame of Falk's, willing to fight Koski for his love and affection. And Alexei Korov, the affable captain of the Russian Yassin-class fast-attack submarine Severodvinsk, who finds himself center-stage in what might very well be the next and final nuclear war, as well as a host of other larger-as-life characters from what ultimately proves to be Koski and Falk's past, present and future.

About the Authors:

A. G. Hayes

I was searching for a Koski and Falk adventure in-between THE CHEMICAL FACTOR (Savant 2015) and FINDING KATE (Savant, 2016), while blue-sky chatting with Raymond Gaynor, author of the Tripler and Clark series politico-techno-thriller TOTAL MELTDOWN (Borgo/Wildside 2013), suddenly, in a synchronous "ah-ha" moment, we came up with the plot for QUANTUM DEATH (Savant 2016).

The work emerged in its entirety over the next couple months, with Koski and Falk naturally assuming positions as key protagonists, and my new protagonist, Kate Keenan of FINDING KATE fame in an unusual half-antagonist/half-protagonist role. In QUANTUM DEATH the duo becomes a trio, at the least in the sense of a tense romantic triangle and at the worst a doomed ménage à trois, the outcome of which will ultimately determine the course of Koski and Falk's growing relationship.

The work surrounds the existence of the enigmatic and elusive kvantovaya mashina smerti, or Quantum Death Machine, an imaginary device based on research Raymond and I did surrounding M-Superstring Theory and Quantum Science.

QUANTUM DEATH is a perfect segue into FINDING KATE, which is actually a prequel to QUANTUM DEATH. Love those relationships, don't you?

Raymond Gaynor

It's difficult to point a finger at whose idea both the plot and romance twists were in QUANTUM DEATH (Savant 2016). It seemed like they came about simultaneously and serendipitously for both A. G. Hayes and myself during a series of phone chats about a new Koski and Falk adventure between THE CHEMICAL FACTOR (Savant 2015) and FINDING KATE (Savant, 2016). I had the pleasure of experiencing something like this when William Maltese and I came up with TOTAL MELTDOWN (Borgo/Wildside 2013). With William Maltese, it was a directed synergy; with A. G. it was as if the characters spoke to us and told us each what to write. Spiritual, some might call it.

One of the advantages of being a published author is meeting others, especially those destined for greatness like A. G. Hayes and William Maltese. Writing with them is a thrill I'll never forget. It's one of those life-defining moments. Since QUANTUM DEATH, A. G. and I have continued our lively phone chats. Who knows what other adventures may pop up? In the end, I can only say that it is the authoring journey that defines one, and, if some suitable stories appear along the way, all the better.

But now it's time to stop talking about QUANTUM DEATH and commend it to you for your reading. I think you'll find within its pages and its twisty plot all the makings of a can't-put-it-down "good read."

Yes , I watched the Olympics and the skating was superb, but I do not understand how they score the skaters at all. Yes, it was cool that Japan won the gold and silver medals in the event! But, it was  extremely beautiful and somewhat spiritual.

I also enjoyed the Super G race because the 26th rank female skier won the gold medal.
And that victory is like the one about the author who went from rejection to massive success on his 6th book.

Congratulations to Dan on the foreign language translations on 'A Whale's Tale". It is good to see that well done writing is still valued!

Dan, who translated your work? I'm interested in some of my work being translated and also checking out Honolulu's movie industry.

And Cleopatra graciously accepts Dr. Mike's answers. She is considering promoting Dr. Mike into her retinue, as Olympos is often lonely. She would also like to debate this Yeshua with Dr. Mike and Helen. How could my desire to save that baby boy's life in CLEOPATRA VICTORIOUS save so many billions of lives?

THE TURTLE DANCES by Daniel S. Janik - Excerpt #3 (Family Rated)

"Chapter 13 - The Turtle Dances

"You know what?" The young man offered, thinking of the two turtles they'd been watching. “We danced so well together, I think we might just win!"

"You know, I think so, too,“ replied his partner. “Thanks to our turtle-friends out there," the two finished together.

The couple returned, hand-in-hand, to the dance floor to join the line of competitors. Waiting for the judges to announce the awards, the young man turned to his now self-assured partner, touched the tip of her hand softly much the way the turtles had, and smiled. "The turtle dances," he said softly.

"Yes," she replied, while unseen in the distance, Isla and Surf happily executed a perfect bounce, twirl and slide. "The turtle dances!"

Continuing the unique tradition of "talking up" rather than down to readers, THE TURTLE DANCES demonstrates the power and beauty of narrative storytelling at its finest. Designed to re-awaken curiosity, discovery in both children and adults, the book is an excellent way to introduce literacy and associated lifelong learning pleasures.

Mulit-award-winning author, naturalist, artist, photographer and movie producer Daniel S. Janik resides in Honolulu, Hawaii with his wife and dance partner, Setsuko Tsuchiya. Together they welcome Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles to Hawaii throughout the year. An Oklahoma painter known for her vivid, almost photographic renditions of nature, illustrator Ruth R. Janik created the 28 naturalistic line drawings in the book specifically for children to color.

THE TURTLE DANCES is the third in the Savant "Color-Me-Please" series and the third in the author's "Pacific Rim Naturalist" group of children's books.

What is bitcoin based on? I have tried to figure this out several times. It seems to be scheme almost as evil as the creation of the Federal Reserve Board in 1913 in which Congress gave control of the US currency to a bunch of private bankers with a fig leaf of the President nominating members of their governing board. There is an excellent book of this history and actual conspiracy entitled:
"The Creature From Jekyl Island". The Fed was supposed to curb inflation, recessions, deflation, etc.

So I think the "petrodollar" needs replacing, but bitcoin seems to be like tulip mania from the 1600's in my humble opinion.

It's slow going. Most psychologists still harbor the classical opinion that the mind is first and foremost, and the body always follows. I am not a psychologist, but as a dancer and somatic therapist, I believe the mind in most instances follows the body. I especially am interested in preventive therapy -- maintaining good health. Recently people live longer; now they must maintain their body longer and with more effort in order to fully enjoy their life with good heath.

My book, IN SEARCH OF SOMATIC THERAPY, Chapter 12 - Progressive Muscle Relaxation, this section specifically addresses prevention of health by oneself rather than relying on others.

I liked what you wrote in your book very much Setsuko! As the research topic of epigenetics expands rapidly we learn that this western idea that the mind, body, soul, and spirit are separate things is wrong. A simple example from my own life is that I have arthritis in my knees which I can either treat by medicines or by walking at least 2 miles a day. I feel much better when I treat it by walking, especially walking outdoors in a non urban environment. Also, when my Dad was recovering from his stroke many years ago his Dr. advised him to stop watching the news so he did not get depressed! I have been following the "no news" advice and it helps my mood immensely!

You aren't the only person questioning how the bitcoin came about and what it actually is, Michael. I actually recount quite a bit of its history in QUANTUM DEATH (Savant 2016) from its supposed inception by the illusive Satashi Nakamura to its core concept, that of "mining" bitcoins by documenting their necessary but anonymous accounting. In essence, "miners" act as bank executives, keeping track of the number of bitcoins without ever revealing their owner(s). The actual scheme is quite clever; it's their application by the dark side that is so damaging, irrespective of which "brand" of bitcoin one is working with. Oh, you didn't know that there is more than one kind of bitcoin? There's the BitCoin per se, and during this last couple years, numerous "new" kinds of bitcoins (virtual currencies) being invented and evolved.

I hope readers will enjoy QUANTUM DEATH for its exploration of the nature and application of bitcoins, in this case, to topple the USA.

I had been exploring various ways of translating Savant/Aignos works from English to other languages. For short works like our COLOR-ME-PLEASE children's books, I chose BabelCube ( and had good success with a translation into Portuguese but was unsuccessful in my first attempt to have it translated into Spanish. By mentioning this, I am not endorsing the service as an author or as a publisher, just replying to your question.

Aloha Mike!

I believe the "health" of the mind depends on the "health" of the body. Doing everything possible to allow the body to heal is the best form of mental health I know.

I've had much less luck identifying a good entrance into the Hawaii independent movie industry. It's developing so fast, that I can't seem to identify a single person representing a major studio or studios here to work with. The effort, however, is ongoing, and I hope one day soon I'll have some good news for everyone Savant/Aignos!

Well, it's getting to be that time again. Today's chat was particularly interesting, and we drew at least 20 "lurkers" this time, so I know it was of interest to others. Looking forward to our next chat on 17 March 2018 (St. Patrick's Day, begorrah) from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Hawaii Standard Time. See you there, and a belated Valentine's Day wish to everyone from Savant Books and Publications and it's imprint Aignos Publishing.
