Aloha and Welcome to the September 2017 Savant/Aignos Realtime Text Chat!

It's a gorgeous morning here at our headquarters in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. I hope the weather where you are is equally bright and cheerful.

There's a lot happening just now, so lets begin!

To those three folks who jumped the gun and started chats before our regular one, my apologies for deleting them, but it's important that we're all on the same topic (namely today's chat). Again, my apologies. Please repost to this topic.

Savant Books and Publications, and its imprint Aignos Publishing, have been asked to participate in a national educational effort called "Healthy Lifestyle" sponsored by the American College of Preventive Medicine. It was an honor to be recognized by one of the major American medical specialty "colleges" for our commitment to quality and enduring literary works. We are negotiating the next couple weeks regarding what we can specifically contribute in terms of utilizing our publisher resources to help in this effort. Get healthy -- Be Healthy! Personally, I believe reading is part of a healthy lifestyle in terms of information gathering and keeping the brain functioning by continual stimulation of curiosity and discovery, something television and cinema don't do as well.

Aloha Helen!

It's a pleasure to hear from you. As your editor for CLEOPATRA VICTORIOUS, I'm excited to be engaged in this sequel to your popular, award-winning first work entitled CLEOPATRA UNCONQUERED (Savant 2015). What's up?

Mr. Michael Davis, our Director of Publicity and Marketing, and I have been working diligently on updating and energizing our former Publicity and Marketing (P&M) Guide for Savant/Aignos authors, breaking it into two sections: Pre-release P&M, and Post-release P&M. We've largely finished constructing and alpha testing the former, and are soon to complete the latter. The new, revised Guide (in two parts) should prove a major assist in establishing author name and work title recognition, and thereby sales. I'll be sending out an email hopefully this month after beta testing is complete.

I was asked earlier this week by one of our new authors, what was so special about our chat, and I wanted to answer that actually as part of this month's chat. Our chat serves multiple purposes: (1) it gives Savant/Aignos authors experience with online realtime text chats; (2) there are many literary and book chats going on all the time on the internet which, if you're good at participating in them, are an effective, free publicity and marketing tool; (3) it's a chance to meet other Savant/Aignos authors and staff, as well as meet the participating public (both lurkers and posters); and (4) after our chat is over, we archive it permanently on the internet, which, after the spider-bots do their job, creates another internet node from which internet surfers can locate you and your work.

One of the most important roles is this latter one, as the spider-bots catalog key words that are repeated frequently (hopefully like your author name and work title) making them searchable on the internet.

Then, of course, there's simply the joy of chatting with other interested parties about books, reading, genres, and what everyone is doing.

That's good news about the Healthy Lifestyle program, and for Savant to be recognized. Exercise for the brain is definitely a good thing. I'm eager to learn about the new P&M guide.

Helen, I received your book today in the mail, CLEOPATRA UNCONQUERED. Looking forward to reading it!

Keith, I am excited to hear you purchased CLEOPATRA UNCONQUERED. I will be posting excerpts later in the chat today.

We are having a much needed cold front in Casper with rain and winds needed to put out the fires.

Dan, how is CLEOPATRA VICTORIOUS coming? Also, how are sales of SHADOWS AND LIGHT and RUNNING FROM THE PACK coming along?

THE TURTLE DANCES by Daniel S. Janik - Excerpt #1 (Family Rated)

[1]

 "Chapter 1 - Peach Moon

Viewed from the middle of the bay, the night would have been pitch dark, but for the huge, round, blushing pink Hawaiian moon, resting like a big ripe peach just above the horizon. Above and behind, the sky, a black velvet blanket, was dusted with pin-point stars. Ahead, along the sandy beach, the evening trade winds rustled the long fronds of tall coconut trees growing on the far side of a sidewalk that wandered behind low mounds of cool, wet sand.

The beach was pretty much as Isla, the Green Sea Turtle, thought it should look, taste and feel from her childhood memories. Of course, it wasn’t exactly the same. There were small differences—the coarseness of the sand granules, their slightly cooler temperature, and something she couldn’t quite put her flipper on..."

-----

Isla, a Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle resting on the beach at Waikiki, notices a dance couple practicing a partner routine for a dance competition. Intrigued, she decides she, too, wants to dance, and more so, partner dance. But how to do it?

Written for adults to read aloud to their children, and youth to 16 years of age to read and enjoy. Lavishly illustrated in black and white for reader coloring opportunities.

The third in the Savant "COLOR-ME-PLEASE" children's book series.

Tell us more about your book in editing, Keith!

As you know, Helen, I'm working my way through the first edit. The first one is always slow going, but the work is a wonderful one. It's hard to edit when you're enjoying the read so much.

CLEOPATRA UNCONQUERED by Helen R. Davis - Excerpt #1 (This Excerpt is Family Rated)

[12515785-helen-davis-cleopatra-unconquered-savant-2015]

"Prologue

"It is with aged fingers but clarity of mind that I take pen to hand to write this brief memoir. What the Gods and Goddesses will ultimately do with it, I know not. These are turbulent times in Egypt, Rome, Greece and Heaven. Whether future generations will read, know or remember my words is known only to the great Goddess, Isis, who in her infinite wisdom, refrains from sharing the whole of the results of our accomplishments with us during our mortal lifetime, be we Pharaoh, Queen, royalty or commoner.

"But this I do know, the Goddess having appeared to me in her many guises repeatedly throughout my life: Whatever my fate, another even more glorious life awaits me when, at last, my spirit returns to her outstretched arms.

"This memoir, then, is not of my life and fate as I will be remembered by mortals—that will be written by historians—but of the promised whole of my life, as the Goddess Isis has seen appropriate to disclose to me."

The first book in a series in a richly imagined ancient world where the course of history is altered by one battle. In this world, Antony and Cleopatra triumph at the Battle of Actium, and Cleopatra emerges as a queen, stateswoman, and politician. Those around her come to life as the reader returns to those days to live them with her.
